A two alarm fire severely destroyed the second floor and attic of a downtown Victorian apartment building. The fire was reported at 7:24 P.M. on 10th Street near S Street. Sacramento Fire Department’s Engine 1 was on scene in about three minutes. They found heavy fire through the roof of the building. A second alarm was requested.
Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire and saved the downstairs units and they also prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining buildings. Fortunately no one was injured and there was only one resident in the entire building. All of the other units were vacant.
The fire is currently under investigation by Sacramento Fire Department Investigators. Firefighters from Sacramento Metro and West Sacramento Fire Departments also responded.
