Juveniles Caught For 4th Of July Fireworks Incident

Sacramento Fire Department Investigators have identified and issued citations to four juveniles for the incident on July 4, 2009 at John Bidwell Elementary School.

At 1:51 P.M. that day, the Sacramento Fire Department responded there for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived and found smoke inside a Kindergarten classroom. They also found remnants of fireworks inside the classroom. There was very minor fire damage to the classrooms carpet.

Images of the juveniles were captured on the schools video surveillance cameras and distributed to the media. Tips were called into the Sacramento Fire Departments Arson Tip Line and to Crime Alert. Because of one of these anonymous tips, the juveniles have been identified. They were all cited under California State Penal Code 452.d, “Careless Burning”. This case has been turned over to the District Attorney.

The Sacramento Fire Department and the Sacramento City Unified School District are pleased that the public offered information that helped us identify these juveniles.
