On July 22, 2009, at 1:20 p.m., Anthony William Race (20) was arrested when he turned himself in at the Sacramento County Main Jail. Race was arrested for the July 15, 2009, murder of 19-year-old Isaac Bartkovsky.
On July 15, 2009, at 2:30 p.m., the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department’s Communications Center received a call from a man reporting his friend was dead and he died from a gunshot wound. Deputies arrived at an apartment complex in the 4600 block of Orange Grove Avenue and found an 18-year-old male victim in a second story apartment suffering from a wound to his upper body. Paramedics arrived a short time later and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Sheriff’s Homicide detectives arrived at the scene and initiated a suspicious death investigation. According to witnesses two men were seen leaving the apartment complex at the time of the shooting. Detectives eventually located and interviewed both subjects. As a result of their investigation detectives determined Bartkovsky was the victim of homicide. On July 20, 2009, an arrest warrant was issued for Anthony Race.
Race was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on the charge of murder.
