The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to 4021 Ramsey Drive in North Highlands for a report of a fire in a residential home. Fire crews arrived within three minutes and encountered heavy fire coming from the front window and doorway of the structure. Fire crews made an aggressive attack and knocked down the fire within minutes. During a search of the structure, a body was found in the front living room area.
The identity and cause of death of the person found is still being investigated by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. Fire investigators on scene have not ruled out an electrical lighting appliance as the potential cause of the fire. There were also seven cats and one dog found deceased in the home.
The estimated dollar loss of the structure and contents is $180,000, but of course, no dollar loss can be assessed to the loss of a human or animal’s life.
