Three Alarm Fire In The Pocket Neighborhood

A three alarm fire destroyed one home and severely damaged a second home this afternoon in the Pocket Neighborhood. Sacramento Fire Department Engine 11 arrived on scene in less than five minutes and reported heavy fire from a two story home and fire threatening the next door single story home.

A neighbor reported that people may have been inside the two-story home. Engine 11’s crew immediately entered the two-story home and conducted a search. They encountered heavy fire on the second floor and attic. Fortunately no one was home. The fire’s intensity forced all Firefighters to abandon the two-story home and put up a “defensive” fight.

The two-story home was a total loss. The second home had severe damage to the attic and damage to some of the homes contents. Firefighters did an outstanding job in preventing the second home from becoming a total loss. Wind definitely played a role in the rapid spread of this devastating fire.

There were no reported injuries and Sacramento Fire Department Investigators are on scene trying to determine the cause of the blaze. Additional Firefighters from Sacramento Metro and Cosumnes Fire also responded.
