On Sunday, June 14, 2009 at 12:19 a.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to the 8600 block of Heritage Hill Dr. regarding a call of an unresponsive person lying on the front lawn of a residence.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive 14-year-old male juvenile. Medical personnel were also on scene and transported the teenager to a local area hospital were he later died. Based on witness statements, Detectives believe that the juvenile had left a nearby party and was walking home when he was confronted by two unidentified individuals. According to witnesses, there was some type of physical altercation between the victim and the two assailants. As a result of the altercation, the 14-year-old fell onto the front lawn of a residence and the assailants fled the area on foot.
The Sacramento County Coroner's Office will be performing an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Also, the identity of the 14-year-old will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office once notifications to family members have been made.
Detectives believe that there were several witnesses to the physical altercation and are seeking assistance from the community.
