From 5 A.M. on Monday, June 15, to 11:30 P.M. on Friday, June 19, 2009, both directions of Gerber Road will be closed between Elk Grove Florin Road and Bradshaw Road for construction work necessary to renovate the Central California Traction Company Railroad crossing at this location. Access will be maintained at all times for local residents and businesses.
The public is advised to avoid this area if possible during construction hours as there will be significant impacts to motorists who use Gerber Road. Detours will be in place to guide motorists around the construction area. Motorists are being asked to use caution throughout the construction area and observe posted speed limits and signs. Motorists can be cited for exceeding the speed limit and fines are double in construction zones.
This railroad crossing renovation work is being done in conjunction with the Freeport Regional Water Authority (FRWA) pipeline project that will carry water diverted from the Sacramento River at the new intake near Freeport Boulevard to the Sacramento County Water Agency (SCWA) Zone 40 Surface Water Treatment Plant and the Folsom South Canal.
