On July 3, 2004, at 10:17 a.m., Skinner was found by family members deceased at his home in the 1000 block Millet Way. Skinner died from blunt force trauma to his head. The investigation at the time did not result in any arrests.

Detectives believe that the suspects entered Skinners home in an attempt to commit a robbery.
