On Sunday, June 14, 2009 at 12:19 a.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to the 8600 block of Heritage Hill Drive on the report of an unresponsive person lying on the front lawn of a residence.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive and lifeless 14-year-old male; later identified as, Ronald Kenoly of Elk Grove. Officers immediately started CPR as Ronald was subsequently transported by ambulance to Methodist Hospital where he later died.
Based on witness statements, Detectives believe Ronald had left a nearby party and was walking home when he was confronted by two individuals. According to witnesses, there was some type of physical altercation between Ronald and the two assailants. As a result of the altercation, Ronald fell onto the front lawn of a residence and the assailants fled the area on foot.
On the evening of June 18, 2009, a tireless investigation led Detectives to the arrest of a 14-year-old juvenile involved in the homicide. The suspect is a resident of Sacramento. He was arrested for 187 PC; Murder and booked into the Sacramento County Juvenile Hall.
Detectives are still investigating the involvement of additional suspects and seeking assistance from the community.
