On April 27, 2009 at 8:43 p.m., Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a shooting at 45th Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard. Deputies arrived and found a 34-year-old male lying in the street and suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his chest. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where he later died from his wound(s).
Witnesses told deputies the victim was involved in a physical confrontation with a subject in the middle of 45th Avenue. During the fight, the subject pulled out a gun and shot the victim at least one time. After the shooting the subject fled the scene in a green vehicle.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, in his early 20’s. He is 5’5” to 5’8” tall and weighs between 145 and 160 pounds with dark hair.
