Gold River Homicide

At approximately 3:18 a.m. on April 11, 2009, deputies were called to the 11800 block of Prospect Hill Drive in Gold River. When they arrived, they observed the victim lying in the street, and the suspect standing nearby. Medical personnel pronounced the victim deceased from an apparent stab wound. He is described as a male Hispanic adult, 22 years old. The suspect, Daniel Ortega (04-27-76), was detained and subsequently arrested for the crime.

Ortega lives at the residence with his wife, and the victim was known to Ortega and/or his wife. It is unknown at this time what the nature of their relationship was. Shortly before the homicide, the victim arrived at the residence and an argument ensued between him and Ortega, which detectives believe culminated in Ortega stabbing the victim.
