Detectives Ask For Public’s Help In Locating Homicide Suspect

On April 27, 2009 at 8:43 p.m., Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a shooting at 45th Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard. Deputies arrived and found a 34-year-old male lying in the street and suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his chest. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where he later died from his wound(s). Witnesses told deputies the victim was involved in a physical confrontation with a subject in the middle of 45th Avenue. During the fight, the subject pulled out a gun and shot the victim at least one time. After the shooting the subject fled the scene in a green vehicle.

As a result of their ongoing investigation, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives have developed information that leads them to believe Oscar Ceballos (see photo below), of Sacramento, is responsible for this shooting death. A warrant has been issued for Ceballos’ arrest on the charge of murder. Ceballos is a 22-year-old Hispanic male. He is 5’8” tall and weighs 145 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Ceballos also has multiple tattoos visible on his neck including the name “Andra” on the left side of his neck. Ceballos should be considered armed and dangerous.
Detectives believe the shooting was the result of an ongoing dispute between the two subjects. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Oscar Ceballos is urged to call Sheriff’s Detective Rob Patton at (916) 606-2227, or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.
