Major Road Closures In Elk Grove Planned

Union Pacific Railroad, in coordination with the City of Elk Grove Public Works Department, will be performing significant track maintenance work at major railroad crossings in Elk Grove, requiring the City to close multiple roads throughout the Elk Grove, beginning March 16.

The following closures and detours have been established:

March 16 and 17
Sheldon Road, between Elk Grove-Florin Road and Freesia Dr.
Westbound motorists will be directed around the project by taking Elk Grove-Florin Road north from Sheldon Road to Calvine Road. Eastbound motorists will be directed around the project by taking East Stockton Blvd. south from Sheldon Road to Bond Road.

March 18 and 19
Bond Road, between Elk Grove-Florin Road and Quail Cove Dr.
Westbound motorists will be directed around the project by taking Waterman Road north from Bond Road to Sheldon Road. Eastbound motorists will be directed around the project by taking Elk Grove-Florin Road north from Bond Road to Sheldon Road.

March 23, 24, 25, and 26
Elk Grove-Florin Road, between Campbell Rd and West Camden Dr.
Northbound motorists will be directed around the project by taking Bond Road west from Elk Grove-Florin Road to East Stockton Blvd. Southbound motorists will be directed around the project by taking Sheldon Road west from Elk Grove-Florin Road to East Stockton Blvd.

March 27,28, 29 and 30
Grant Line Road, between East Stockton Blvd and Waterman Rd.
Westbound motorists will be directed around the project by taking Bond Road west from Grant Line Road to East Stockton Blvd. Eastbound motorists will be directed around the project by taking East Stockton Blvd. north from Grant Line Road to Bond Road.

March 31, April 1, 2, and 3
Elk Grove Blvd, between Walnut Ave and School St.
Westbound motorists will be directed around the project by taking Waterman Road north from Elk Grove Blvd to Bond Road. Eastbound motorists will be directed around the project by taking Elk Grove-Florin Road north from Elk Grove Blvd to Bond Road.

Each closure will begin at 6 a.m. The road will remain closed until the work is finished. Informational road closure and detour signs will be posted prior to the closures.

Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians will not be permitted to cross the tracks until the work at each location is completed.

The scheduled maintenance is part of Union Pacific’s effort to keep their infrastructure in the safest operational condition possible, and when finished, will provide a more stable and smoother transition for Elk Grove motorists driving across the tracks.
