On February 6, 2009, at 3:01 p.m., Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a shooting at a house located at the corner of Ramsey Drive and Cortright Way. When deputies arrived they found two victims outside the home suffering from what appeared to be shotgun wounds. The first victim, a 17-year-old Hispanic male, was wounded in the neck and face. The second victim, an 18-year-old Hispanic male, was shot in the hand and leg. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Witnesses have told investigators they heard the gunshots and looked outside to see a red Mitsubishi Eclipse with up to five occupants leaving the area. They were unable to identify or describe the occupants of the vehicle.
The two victims are validated gang members and investigators believe the shooting is gang-related. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide and Gang units are investigating this case. They are being assisted by officers from the Twin Rivers Unified School District Police Department and are attempting to identify the suspects responsible for the shooting.
Anyone with information regarding the identities of the suspects is urged to call detectives at (916) 874-5115, or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00.
