Fatal Traffic Collision

Citrus Heights Police Officers were dispatched to the above location at approximately 5:48 am, on a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and two pedestrians.

Upon arrival, officers located a male with severe injuries in the roadway, a female with complaints of pain to her back standing nearby, and a vehicle with moderate damage to the front end. Sacramento Metro Fire transported both pedestrians to Mercy San Juan Hospital for treatment. The female is expected to be treated and released. The male died as a result of his injuries. The decedent’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.

The driver and a witness were questioned and released. Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling at or near the posted speed limit of 40 MPH.

Citrus Heights Police Department would like to remind persons out walking during darkness to wear light colored clothing, and be aware that drivers may not see you in the roadway.
