On January 10, 2009, at 2:08 a.m., Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a convenience store/gas station at 3800 47th Avenue following a call reporting people outside the business armed with guns. When deputies arrived they located a 21-year-old black male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he continues to receive treatment for his wounds. As deputies were on-scene investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, they were notified of a second shooting which had occurred a short distance away at a home located in the 3400 block of La Grande Boulevard.
Upon their arrival at the home on La Grande, deputies discovered a large crowd of people and a 27-year-old black male suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his upper body. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries shortly before 11:00 a.m. that morning.
Sheriff’s Homicide detectives now believe the two shootings are connected and are possibly gang-related. There is no suspect information at this time in connection to either shooting.
