Detectives Make Arrest In 2007 Domestic Violence Homicide

On January 26, 2009, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives arrested 38-year-old Augustine Munoz for the 2007 murder of his 42-year-old ex-wife, Jill Alamo. Munoz was arrested at the Sacramento County Main Jail where he had been in custody since November 10, 2007.

On October 30, 2007, Alamo was reported missing by her neighbor. When deputies responded to Alamo’s residence, they found signs of forced entry and a struggle inside the home. On November 8, 2007, Alamo’s body was discovered lying in a ditch in the 9900 block of Elder Creek Road.

Family members, along with friends and neighbors had reported numerous incidents of domestic violence between the victim and Augustine Munoz prior to her disappearance. At the time of the murder, Augustine Munoz was free on bail for violating a domestic violence restraining order. After the discovery of Alamo’s body, Munoz’s bail was revoked and he was returned to jail.

In 2008, while continuing the investigation, detectives were notified by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Crime Laboratory that evidence recovered from both crime scenes linked Munoz to the murder.

Munoz was arrested on one count of murder and domestic violence. There is no bail.
