Two Alarm Fire Damages Fair Oaks Strip Mall
On Dec 28,2008 at 4:15 pm the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District arrived at 4140 Sunrise bl. to a strip mall involved with fire. A second alarm was requested due to the potential with the strip mall construction. The building was right around the corner from Engine 31. A nearby Fire Station meant water was able to be applied earlier which prevented the fire from spreading across the entire strip mall. The fire was limited to the end unit occupied by a liquor store, other units suffered minor smoke damage. It took over 32 fire fighters to bring the fire under control in just 13 minutes. No one was injured and the damage is estimated at 500,000.00. Metro Fire investigators are not ruling out a bathroom fan as the source of heat which ignited the building.
