Natural Gas Explosion Shakes Rancho Cordova And Takes The Life Of One Of Its Residents

At 1337 on December 24, 2008 The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded a report of an explosion at 10708 Paiute way. Metro Fire arrived to a demolished home on fire and several other homes damaged as a result of a natural gas explosion. Six people, including one fire fighter, were treated and transported to area hospitals. One of the persons died at the hospital later that evening from traumatic injuries. Over sixty fire fighters including fire fighters from the city of Sacramento and Folsom worked together to bring this tragedy under control. The structural damage is estimated at $700,000.00. The source of ignition is undetermined.
