CHP To Honor Fallen Officer
A bell ringing ceremony will be held tomorrow in memory of California Highway Patrol Officer Joseph Paul Sanders, who died in the line of duty Monday, December 15. About 4:30 a.m. Officer Sanders was investigating a collision on the rain-slick Pomona (SR 60) Freeway in Hacienda Heights when he was struck by an errant vehicle. Officer Sanders sustained major injuries and was transported by helicopter to USC Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Officer Sanders, 29, was a one-year veteran of the CHP and worked out of the Santa Fe Springs Area office. He is survived by a wife and four children.
