On 12-04-08, at about 4:03PM, the Galt Police Department Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call from an in-home licensed day-care stating a three month old baby boy in their care had stopped breathing. Upon arrival of CSD Paramedics and Galt Police Officers, the infant was found not breathing and the day care providers were conducting CPR on the infant.
The infant was transported by CSD Paramedics to Lodi Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead by hospital physicians.
The Galt Police Department investigations unit was called to the scene to investigate the incident. The investigation is on-going. At this time, foul play is not suspected and no reason exists to believe there was any criminal conduct involving the circumstances of this incident.
The in-home day care facility was properly licensed by the State of California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division. The Sacramento County Child Protection Services Department was also summoned to the scene to aid in the investigation.
The cause of death is unknown at this time. Additional information is expected after the autopsy has been completed by the Office of the Sacramento County Coroner.
