Rancho Cordova Motor Officer Injured

At 1:55 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, the Communications Center received a call reporting a Rancho Cordova Police motorcycle officer was injured as a result of a collision on Coloma Road.

The RCPD motor unit was traveling on Coloma Road at Chardonay Drive when a vehicle collided with him. As a result of the collision, the officer sustained critical injuries and was transported to Mercy San Juan Hospital.

The officer is 13-year veteran of the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department and has been assigned to the Rancho Cordova Police Department since the 2004.

Several motorists stopped to render aid until emergency personnel arrived.

The California Highway Patrol Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the collision.

UPDATE: Sheriff John McGinness will be conducting a press conference regarding this tragic accident at 6:00 pm. The press conference will take place at the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Headquarters, 711 G Street Sacramento Ca. 95814.
